I noted those problems before your email and corrected them.
It has to do with the use of upper and lower case letters. On PC DOS based machines (Our machines for example), upper and lower case alphabet characters are treated the same. That is, DOS sees an "A" and an "a" as the same character. On "Unix" type servers (a very large number of servers on the Internet use Unix as the operating system), An uppercase or capital A is considered different than a lowercase a. Thus a file with the name Bigblueball.gif or Mymainpage.htm is not the same as bigblueball.gif and mymainpage.htm on a Unix server. Some files in your web site contained uppercase letters and the web html referred to them with lowercase letters. On our machines the web page will look fine, graphics and all. On a Unix server the graphic file may appear to be missing or the link points to another htm page that does not appear to exist. The solution is to adopt a consistent pattern of using only lowercase letters or all uppercase letters, but not both. Or, if you capitalize a graphic file, make sure it refers to a capitalized file and don't inadvertently enter the file name in lowercase. When files are uploaded (via FTP) the relationship between the html referents (i.e., href="mymainpage.htm or MYMAINPAGE.HTM) and the actual file name will be preserved. It's a problem only if we depart from the practice of consistently using one or the other (better to use lower case). The use of uppercase letters, particularly as the first letter of the graphic or html page occurs more frequently with teachers! Why? They are so accustomed to capitalizing the first letter of a sentence, first letter of vocabulary words such as formal pro nouns and/or proper nouns etc etc. The problem is further complicated by the fact that MAC systems capitalizes the first letter of every file during a save. This does not, however apply to the title you give to the web page. Naming the web page file (e.g., mypage.htm is not the same as giving a title to the page (My first Home Page on the Internet). Notice that the name refers to the file while the title makes it easier for you to identify the document. Unix doesn't look at titles, just file names.
You may have to provide me with another copy of the image. Scan it or resave it in JPEG and send it via email as an attachment. The graphic file should not be larger than 100K and I will probably reduce it further (to about 20K). I suspect it has to do with the fact that it is a photo saved in GIF, when it should have been saved as JPEG. You cannot have more than 256 colors in GIF format so photos will not look as good. JPEG is ideal for photos in that you must have at least 256 colors (and no maximum limit). The compression is excellent (can reduce a 1 megabyte graphic to 20K with great results).
